Welcome to DS105, the first step in your data science journey! Our first lecture sets the stage for what’s to come and introduces key concepts to prepare you for the hands-on work ahead.

📋 Preparation

To get the most out of the first lecture:

1. Complete the DataQuest lessons outlined in the 📝 W01 Formative Exercise.
2. Familiarise yourself with the 📔 Syllabus.
3. Set up your environment on Nuvolos following the Nuvolos - First Time guide.

🗣️ Lecture Overview

In this session, we will:

1. Provide an overview of DS105, including learning goals, structure, and assessments.
2. Provide a more theoretical background behind the data types in programming, concepts you will have practice in the 📝 W01 Formative Exercise.
3. Introduce VS Code and Jupyter Notebooks, central tools for this course.
