Step 1: Forming Groups (W07)

2023/24 Autumn Term

How to form groups for the group project.
Author

Remember from the ✍️ Assessments page that, starting Week 08, we will ask to form groups and to start working on a data project together. In πŸ’» Week 07 lab, we cleared up some time for you to start forming groups, but in case you haven’t done it yet, here is what you need to do.

The Process

  1. Talk to others within your same class group and try to form a group of, ideally, three people.

    • Your class teacher might be able to allow a group of 4 people if there are odd numbers.
    • You need your class teachers’ explicit permission to form a group that is not made of 3 people.
  2. Reach out to others on Slack, or let your class teacher know if you don’t know anyone in your class or cannot form a group of 3 people. They will help facilitate the process.

  3. Fill out the form below.

What’s next? After you form a group, look at what we want to hear from you on your W08 presentation.

πŸ’‘ Tips

General tips

  • You can create private Slack channels for your group to discuss your project. Or you can use a different communication tool like WhatsApp, etc.
  • After you form a group, schedule a meeting with your group members to produce a team contract (who will do what and how you will hold each other accountable) and a document with your initial data source ideas.
