We have gathered a list of APIs to inspire your search for data sources.

This is truly just a list of APIs we have seen or have explored before. Do not feel obliged to choose your data source from here. Feel free, for example, to choose โ€œfunโ€ data sources too โ€” say, things related to entertainment, games, music, video, etc.. It is up to you and your group!

We recommend you to play with some of the APIs in the list for preparing your assesment.

Data is Plural run by Buzzfeedโ€™s data editor ๐Ÿง‘ Jeremy Singer-Vine. People send him interesting/funny/odd datasets and he shares them in a weekly newsletter. Hereโ€™s the link to the website. The google doc list of datasets is linked here.

Just to keep in mind that static datasets โ€” those you can get from downloading a single CSV file โ€” are not allowed as the main data source in this course. You can use these kind of sources to complement your analysis, just not as the main data source.

APIs

Here you will find APIs to track real-time train locations in Switzerland, to gather historical or current air pollution anywhere in the world, or even, see the crimes committed in Chicago. We recommend you explore with different APIs before committing to one for your project.

Some of these APIs might require that you register and create account with them before granting you actual access to data.
