🏅 Best Final Essays

2022/23 Lent Term

Author

Dr. Jon Cardoso-Silva

This page contains essays written by students at the end of DS101L 2022/23 that we, the instructors and markers, found truly enjoyable!

The primary goal of these essays was for students to reflect on the current or potential applications of data science, machine learning, and AI in their respective fields of study. For a detailed understanding of how DS101L students were guided, you can refer to the 🌟 Summative 03 page. We hope you find these essays as enjoyable to read as we did!

Important

Note that students in DS101L 2022/23 had the option to use Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, DALL-E, Grammarly, and more to assist them in writing their essays. We didn’t penalize them for using these tools. Quite the contrary, we encouraged them to give it a try and see if it helped them out. If a student used any AI tools, you will find a disclaimer at the end of their essay.
